True Ministry

Often times it is easy to make ministry very public and loud, showing off to the world that we are doing a service for them. Even if the actions are good it’s important to look at the motives. Not that if the motives are wrong people should stop doing ministry, but perhaps they should really search their heart and spend time in prayer to change their motives. “And why should they change the motives” you ask? Very simple: When people do ministry for the wrong motives they often times burn out and leave ministry all together.   Jesus taught that as we do to other so we do to Him.  (Matthew 25:35-40) If we are ministering as unto Jesus we should be giving it our 100%. This week I saw a beautiful example of someone who served in such a selfless and caring manner. After preaching a series our evangelist would get very tired. And after doing it for quite a few weeks it took a toll on his health. At the beginning of our closing weekend he felt quite ill but still pushed through. As we came home Yajaira quickly fixed him a sandwich and our house mom offered to give him a foot massage with her essential oils. It was beautiful to see the how caring the people I am working with are. They put their own desires to the side to meet those of others. I can honestly see that Jesus has a spot in their hearts. They are not perfect, but they are God-fearing people, who want to serve Jesus. And that is what matters most. ❤

Children and Series Bring More People to Attend Church!

After some intense nights studying the Bible at our series, after going over quite a few heavy topics such as the Sabbath, the 2,300 day prophecy, and the state of the dead, we invited the series attendees to come to our weekly church service on Sabbath. We expected people to come but we were truly blown away at the crowd that filled up the pews.IMG_6784

One thing that really helped for people to come out was the bells performance by our small church school. Many of their parents and family members were able to come out and not only see their children perform but also hear a message by Pastor Bruce on the 2nd coming of Jesus.IMG_6785

Our Jesus is coming soon, and everyone who came to the service learned the “Who, what, when, where, and why’s” of Jesus’ return…and how they could be ready for His return themselves.

Until next time,

Bible Studies with Celina

Last week I had a Bible study with Celina, a young lady (in her twenties) who is a new Christian and didn’t really know how to read the Bible, she was so kind and willing to learn about Jesus and how to study the Bible for herself. I left everything in God’s hands that morning and on my way to Celina’s house I prayed that God would use me and that it would be Him who spoke through me, I prayed that all self would be put aside and that I would just be an instrument to share His love and light to her. As the study went on she kept asking questions and by the grace of God I was able to answer every single one of them. to some, I didn’t even know how I could answer them so quickly but everything just seemed to come to memory from my classes at SOULS. By the end of the study I was so overwhelmed and praising God for what He was able to do through me even though I don’t know much myself and praise God for using me and showing me that He was there with me during the study and just the wonderful feeling of being able to teach someone how to read the Word of God. Celina is has been very exited with the Bible studies and is eager to learn more of Jesus; please pray for Celina as she begins her journey in the study of the Word. (:

We need to have far less confidence in what man can do and far more confidence in what God can do for every believing soul. He longs to have you reach after Him by faith. He longs to have you expect great things from Him. He longs to give you understanding in temporal as well as in spiritual matters. He can sharpen the intellect. He can give tact and skill. Put your talents into the work, ask God for wisdom, and it will be given you. -EGW (Christian Service pg. 282)

Manteca Adventist Christian School

Every Tuesday Lizie and I give a small worship at the local Adventist church school. Its right behind the church. There are  9 students who range from 1st to 8th grade. Josiah (top, second left side) is in eighth grade and wants to go to Weimar Acadademy for further education. Elijah (top right) has been coming to our seminars and stoop up for the appeal and accepted Jesus into his heart. Abraham (bottom left) is the sweetest little guy ever! He always wants to pray and sing, share comments and answer questions. Emily (bottom right) is a very thoughtful, sweet girl, she is a little shy but always says goodbye to us. img_6119    Lizie and I alternate giving worships and sometimes we do little activities with a worship nugget at the end and of course, those are the students favorites! It’s really neat to come and share a little bit of Jesus with these kids. Some of the students here are not Adventist or Christians but they all love to sing praises to the Lord and really like our worships. Please keep the Manteca Adventist Christian School in prayer that more kids will come, have a Christian education and know Jesus as their friend. (:

Our Series!!!!

We have finally begun our series and we have been busy bees ever since. It has been such a blessing!!! God has done mighty and powerful things these past four nights…we began Friday and held our meeting every night until today. We will reunite once again this coming Friday. Putting on these evangelistic series isn’t the easiest task given to a Souls West students but I’ll have to admit it’s one of the funnest. Each night we see God continuously bringing people to learn more about His Word. One particular occasion stood out for me. A few weeks ago I had gone to canvass and pass out flyers in a newer neighborhood. For a canvasser it seemed like a juicy street. To my surprise everyone I seemed to meet were retired, getting ready for bed, and not too happy to see me. I figured since I was already on the street and out of my car…I might as well be faithful to complete this street. “I know God will bless.” I told to myself, and kept knocking on the doors. After about 45 min. the street was barely coming to an end and I still hadn’t sold any books. And that is when I met Darlene and Frank. The woman was sympathizing with what she saw at her door: a young girl with books, flyers, and a smile…while the man immediately wanted to know who I was and why I was at his door at 7:00 P.M. I quickly realized it may be hard to sell a book to them, just like the many people I met before them, so I took a different approach and explain to them who I was, what I was doing in Manteca, and handed them a H4 (a little book we have called “Happiness for Life”). As I told them about the content the woman went to look for a small donation while the man was still trying to reject me with a skeptical reproach. I decided to fight for this one…I knew that I could apologize for disturbing the man and just move on. After all he is the authoritative figure in his house and he could stop the woman form taking the book if he pleased. But I kept trying to buy time explaining to him more about what we were doing. Soon enough the woman came back with a few dollars and wished me luck with my schooling. As I left, I gave them a flyer for our upcoming series and invited them to come. They informed me that they would consider it. I finally finished the street and head home feeling as though my efforts were ineffective. Fast-forward to to our series: They have come to each and every single night of the series. Today they approached me and thanked me for coming to their house and that they have been enjoying the meetings. This was such a precious moment for a canvasser: to see the results of my labor. Of course this is not the end of their story but I can already tell that God is adding special chapters to their life…amazingly including me. God is so good to use us in our sinful state to bring people to Him. Not just that but in a moment I felt as though my efforts were useless…God was moving mightily upon this couple’s hearts. Something I learned from this story…Listening and trusting God’s voice has it’s rewards. I pray that God will continue to lead Darlene and Frank as the series goes on and they learn about the precious truths found in the Bible. Please keep them in prayer as well.

Until next time,

God bless,

Revelation Of Hope

Opening Night

It was the opening night for Revelation Of Hope. Our evangelist, none other than Mr. Anthony Baca. We did Printing, rehearsing with church members and Lizie practiced the appeal song. Church members started getting here super early to help as well, there was so much to get done and time seemed too short. Lizie, Baca the church members and I were so exited to see who would walk through the church doors and maybe even people we had knocked on their homes. There was a lot prayer that day, Pastor, Baca, Lizie and I got together to pray for the people who were to come, and ask God to send His Holy Spirit to

img_6677It was barely 6pm and some people were already getting there to have free supper. The presentation started at 7pm but even after that there were still people coming in! We had about 45 visitors come to the meeting including non christians and one atheist! It was a powerful night, Baca preached on Daniel chapter 2, we could hear people loudly saying “amen”! It was overall a huge blessing for the people and for Lizie and I.

Valentine = A Person Who Is Loved

In our world today everyone is searching for love. Every year 224 million roses are grown, sold, and given for a special holiday. Valentine’s day is a day that people have dedicated to show their loved ones some extra love. And on this day Yajaira and I decided to show some love to people we do not know. There is a woman’s shelter across the street from our church. All kinds of women come to this shelter: those who don’t have a place to go, those struggling financially, women with children seeking refuge. About a week before Valentine’s day Yaya and I asked the manager of the shelter how many women were staying there and on Valentine’s Day we decided to deliver them small care packages.

We put together small boxes of socks, a small stationary kit, face masks and hand made cards with Bible verses. (And flyers for our series of course!!!) Our hope and prayer is that these women will be able to see that even if they are going through a difficult time they are loved by God and man. ❤

Until next time,

God bless,
